Logan Pass (Going-to-the-Sun)
The high point of Glacier National Park's spectacular Going-to-the-Sun Road, amid alpine peaks and meadows.
Overview
Logan Pass, at 2,026 meters the highest point on the famous Going-to-the-Sun Road in Montana's Glacier National Park, is one of the most spectacular scenic spots in the American Rockies. Perched on the Continental Divide amid soaring peaks, hanging valleys, and alpine meadows that burst with wildflowers in summer, the pass offers breathtaking mountain panoramas and is a gateway to some of the park's finest short hikes.
The drive to reach it — the engineering marvel of the Going-to-the-Sun Road, clinging to cliffs and crossing the divide — is itself one of the most scenic routes in North America. At the pass, visitors spot mountain goats and bighorn sheep, hike to the Hidden Lake Overlook, and soak in the grandeur of glacier-carved peaks. Open only in the brief summer when the snow is cleared, Logan Pass is the dramatic heart of Glacier National Park.
