Take I-94 to 23 Mile Road (exit 243). Travel northeast 22 miles to the park

Algonac State Park is a 1,450-acre (5.9 km2) state park in St. Clair County, Michigan. The park has approximately a half mile (800 m) of St. Clair River frontage, making viewing of international freighters a major attraction. The park is home to at least 22 endangered or threatened plant and animal species.
83% of the park is undeveloped. This area is dedicated to protect two of the rarest natural communities in Michigan. Savannas (also known as oak openings) and Lake Plain Prairies. Only roughly 500 acres of these communities remain in Michigan, 120 of which are at Algonac.
The park has two campgrounds. Algonac Riverfront with 220 sites, electrical service, modern restrooms and winter camping.

Algonac Wagonwheel is the other which also has electrical service and modern restrooms with 76 sites.
Park has three hiking trails.
Algonac Blazing Star- 0.5 (miles) Hiking, Cross Country Ski
Algonac-Oak Savanna Trail- 2.5 (miles) Hiking, Cross Country Ski
Bridge to Bay Trail- 1.0 (mile) Biking, Hiking.
Excellent Walleye fishing on the park shoreline. Archery and trap shooting also available. During Fall and Winter seasons the park is open to small and large game species.
