Apgar Visitor Center
The west-side gateway to Glacier National Park, on the shore of Lake McDonald.
Overview
The Apgar Visitor Center, on the western side of Glacier National Park in Montana near the shore of beautiful Lake McDonald, is a key orientation point for exploring the park's spectacular glacier-carved landscape. It provides maps, trip-planning, ranger advice, and information on the famous Going-to-the-Sun Road and the park's vehicle-reservation system.
Set amid forests beside the long, clear waters of Lake McDonald and the rugged peaks beyond, Apgar is where many west-side visitors begin their exploration of Glacier's alpine lakes, hiking trails, wildlife, and the renowned mountain drive over the Continental Divide.
