Straits Lake

Straits Lake is an inland lake in Schoolcraft County, covering roughly 190 acres, one of the thousands of lakes that define Michigan's outdoors. Like most of the state's inland lakes, it offers warm-weather fishing — bass, northern pike, walleye and panfish are common — along with boating, kayaking, canoeing and swimming where public access is available, and ice fishing once it freezes over in winter.

Public access depends on the presence of a boat launch or road-end; check the Michigan DNR and local listings for launch sites, fishing regulations and current conditions. Nearby boat launches and shoreline parks (linked under related places) are the easiest ways to get on the water.
