Cave of the Woods

Cave of the Woods is a cave or natural rock feature in Michigan. The state's caves are mostly sea caves, sandstone shelters and small limestone openings rather than deep cavern systems — many of the most striking line the Lake Superior shore, where waves have carved hollows and arches into the cliffs over thousands of years.

Caves can be hazardous: loose rock, cold water, slippery footing and changing lake conditions all pose real risks, and some are only reachable by boat or kayak.
