Scales Pointe

Scales Pointe is a public recreation site in Iowa, managed by US Army Corps of Engineers.

On site and nearby you'll find Boating, Camping, Water Sports, Playground Park Specialized Sport Site, Other Recreation Concession Site.

The surrounding public land supports the usual mix of outdoor recreation, and anglers will find largemouth and smallmouth bass, walleye, channel catfish, crappie, bluegill and yellow perch in nearby waters.

Summer is the heart of the season here — warm days, long evenings and the fullest access — but also the busiest. Late spring and early fall are quieter and often more comfortable, and some access closes once winter sets in.

Scales Pointe is reached by public road.

Practice Leave No Trace: pack out all trash, stay on designated routes and roads, and respect posted rules, closures and fire restrictions — bans are common in dry summer months. Keep pets leashed where required and give wildlife room.

Go early on summer weekends to beat crowds and heat, bring layers and your own water, and double-check current conditions and seasonal access before you commit to the drive.
