Overview

Kalalau Beach, on the wild Na Pali Coast of Kauai, Hawaii, is one of the most spectacular and sought-after wilderness campgrounds on Earth — a remote stretch of golden sand beneath towering, fluted green cliffs, reachable only by the strenuous 11-mile Kalalau Trail or by sea. There are no roads, no services, and no easy way out; reaching it is a serious adventure.

Campers who earn the permit and make the rugged hike are rewarded with a slice of paradise: a beach backed by sea caves, waterfalls cascading down the cliffs, and the vast Pacific. Strictly permitted and limited to protect the fragile environment, camping at Kalalau is a bucket-list experience of raw, isolated tropical wilderness on one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world.
